Let’s tackle a burning question that’s been on many of our minds: “What do we call what we do?”
I know you’ve been there. Someone asks about your Profession, and you find yourself fumbling, saying, “We’re like this company” or “We’re like that company.”
It’s time we stop comparing ourselves and define ourselves clearly and confidently.
Remember, We Are More Than Just A Label
Some people label us as Direct Selling or Multi-Level Marketing (MLM). But here’s the thing – these terms are a terrible way to describe what we are and what we do.
Sure, we sell products directly to consumers, but even the kid with a lemonade stand does that. And MLM? That term barely scratches the surface, focusing only on the compensation plan’s network-building aspect.
The REAL Essence Of Our Work
What we actually do is this – we sell products to consumers using word-of-mouth advertising. This is achieved through three core strategies:
1. Personal Sales: We go out there and personally sell products or services to consumers.
2. Building A Network: We don’t just stop at personal sales; we build and expand a network of distributors who do the same.
3. Leadership And Productivity: We apply leadership to our network, constantly working to improve its productivity.
Why “Network Marketing” Fits Us Best
“Network Marketing” just perfectly encapsulates our business model as a whole – marketing products and services through a network of ever-expanding, increasingly productive distributors using word-of-mouth advertising.
Let’s Embrace Our Identity
I know some might find this controversial. There are those who shy away from being labeled as Network Marketers. But here’s my call to you: Be proud of what we do.
If you’re part of this Profession, just embrace it. Say it loud, “Yes, I’m a part of Network Marketing, and I’m proud of it.” For the average person with entrepreneurial dreams, this is indeed a better way.
So, let’s spread the word. We are Network Marketers. Share this with your friends, family, your company, and your contacts.
Let’s carry ourselves with confidence, with shoulders back and chin up. Tell the world that we have found a better way.
After all, we are part of a movement that values personal connection, entrepreneurship, and genuine leadership.
