People ask me all the time, “How can I motivate myself to take action?” Unfortunately, many Network Marketing Professionals aren’t very good at doing this. Even those making money will admit that if someone paid them for the work they did in the last 30 days, they wouldn’t get paid very much. In other words, they aren’t acting as if they were employed.
However we are employed, we are SELF-employed, yet many of us don’t act like we have jobs. We work whenever, show up whenever, and get distracted all the time. We don’t have set hours or hold ourselves accountable.
So what is the result of this behavior? Poor results.
So I suggest you treat this profession like a job, especially at first. Eventually you will get to the point where you can treat it like a business and allow yourself more freedom, but in order to make any real headway, you’ve got to start out treating it like a job. Act like you’ll get fired if you don’t put in your hours every day.
Many people in the Network Marketing Profession don’t work set hours. They just do things whenever they get around to it. Then they wonder why they’re getting scraps instead of substance on their commission checks. But substance comes from labor. It doesn’t come from doing things when you get around to them.
So go to work. Employ yourself. Let your calendar be your boss. If you don’t do what you’re supposed to do in a day, then hold yourself accountable. In Network Marketing, too many people think that working an 8-hour day is a goal. That is backwards to me. Working a set number of hours isn’t a goal. You wouldn’t call it a goal to go to your office and work for 8 hours. It’s something that is just expected. And yet in Network Marketing, too many people think that working an 8-hour day is a goal. For some reason we don’t want the laws of business to apply in the Network Marketing Profession.
So today, decide not to be lazy, entitled, and always waiting for your next check. Decide to employ yourself. There’s great value in labor. Get to work, and you’ll reap the benefits.
