    Sidestep the Holiday Slump!

    Published on:

You’ve been working hard and crushing it all year – but now it’s crunch time! It’s easy to look at the progress you’ve made this year and decide you’ll just take it easy over the holidays. Or if you haven’t done as well as you’d hoped, you might not think that focusing on your business over the holidays is going to turn things around.

The last thing you want to do over the holidays is STOP.

Standing water goes stale, but moving water stays fresh. The world doesn’t stop changing and evolving around you just because you want a break. That’s not how it works. If you’re not moving and  adapting, you’re getting left behind!

It’s like going up a down escalator. Even if you stop taking steps, you’re still moving…just not in the direction you want to go! If you stop for too long, you’ll be way behind where you want to be. Then it will be more work than ever just to get back to where you were before you stopped!

Here are my top strategies to combat complacency.

1: Set short- AND long-term goals.

There’s nothing wrong with taking baby steps – unless that’s all you’re doing. If there’s one thing I know, success loves speed. Build your business in bursts, where you’re giving it all you’ve got – and then you can scale back to those baby steps in between your growth spurts. But the trick is to keep your eyes trained on your long-term goals even in the interim. Keep moving forward!

2: Create accountability programs within your team!

This isn’t breaking news…I’m not the first person to think of this. But in Network Marketing, it is especially important to have people to keep you accountable. When there’s no one keeping you on track, it’s easy to fall into a slump.

The solution? Tell people your goals! Shout them from the rooftop! Implement a check-in procedure within your team to regularly track your progress. You may also want to establish a baseline – a minimum acceptable amount of work or progress per day or week.

       3: Reward your achievements.

Celebrate success! Even small victories deserve recognition. I’m not saying you should fall into a success coma, but it’s important to acknowledge progress and success within your team (that includes yourself!).

    Don’t hibernate for the winter!

When you’re tempted to take it easy instead of pushing your business forward, remind yourself about everything you’re working for. Where are you trying to get to? Who is depending on you? What are your goals? If you can reach them by sitting around and being lazy, they’re not worth getting!

It takes hard work to reach your goals, but it takes persistence too. You have to keep moving even over the holidays if you don’t want to slide backwards. Enjoy time with family and friends – but remember that you are still running a business!
